Petrol price remains unchanged while high-speed diesel slashed by Rs3 per litre – Pakistan

The Finance Division announced Sunday night that the price of gasoline will remain unchanged, while the price of high speed diesel (HSD) will be reduced by RS3 per liter for the next fortnight.

Gasoline, mainly used in private cars, small vehicles, rickshaws and motorcycles, directly affects the budgets of average and low income groups.

The majority of the transport sector works with HSD and its price is considered inflationary, since it is mainly used in heavy transport vehicles, trains and agricultural motors such as trucks, buses, tractors, wells and trillators, and particularly adds to the prices of vegetables and other groceries.

A notification of the Finance Division, available with Dawn.comHe declared that the new HSD price was RS269.99, while gasoline would remain at RS264.61, the same as the beginning of August. In addition, superior querosene oil prices and light diesel oil were reduced in RS1.46 per liter and RS2.40, respectively.

“The Government has reviewed the prices of oil products for fifteen days from tomorrow (September 1), in line with the recommendations of OGRA (Petroleum and Gas Regulatory Authority) and the ministries in question,” said the Finance Division.

Earlier this week, the Cabinet Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved a financial rescue for Pakistan television (PTV), a recovery plan for RS47 billion in oil collection pending Cynergic Refinery and the use of funds collected under gas gas to reduce electricity rates for all consumers.

On August 16, the Finance Division announced a cut of RS12.84 per liter in the price of HSD for the next fortnight, while gasoline prices remained unchanged. Higher querosene oil prices and light diesel oil were cut by RS7.19 per liter and RS8.2, respectively.
