The Federal Government reduced the price of gasoline in RE1 per liter on Friday for the next fortnight, while the price of high speed diesel (HSD) remained unchanged.

“The Petroleum and Gas Regulatory Authority has resolved the consumer prices of oil derived products, depending on the price variations in the international market,” said a notification of the Finance Division.

According to the notification, the price of the motor spirit (gasoline) was reduced from RS255.63 per liter to RS254.63.

HSD’s price remained the same at RS258.64.

On March 15, the Government announced that the prices of oil derived products would remain unchanged during the next fortnight.

The per liter price of HSD had remained at RS258.64, RS255.63 for gasoline, RS168.12 for chest oil and RS153.34 for light diesel oil.

Price notification occurred shortly after the prime minister’s office announced that the prime minister had decided to keep oil prices at the existing level against up to LS13 per liter prepared by the oil regulator and the oil division with the promise to transfer their financial impact to electricity consumers.
