Parks Canada says that a singer from the United States and a rising star in the Maga Movement will not be presented in a national historical place near Halifax after the federal agency revoked the permission of the organizer.
The Christian Rocker Sean Feucht was scheduled to play a concert on Wednesday night at the National Historic Site of York Redoubt, a fortification built in 1793 to help protect the port city.
Feucht, who was running out of success for the United States Congress as a Republican in 2020, is also a missionary and an author who has spoken against the 2SLGBTQ+community, the rights of abortion and the critical theory of the race on its website.
The residents who live near the site and in all Halifax had expressed concerns about the performance, which argued that they were against the guiding principles of inclusion and security of Parks Canada for all visitors. Some had planned to organize a protest at the concert.
In a press release on Tuesday night, Parks Canada emphasized that the event was not being presented by the agency, but that an permits head was organizing.
He said that due to the “security considerations” based on planned protests, police contributions and security challenges with the configuration of York’s redoubts, Parks Canada has re -evaluated the conditions of permission and potential impact for community members, visitors, those attending concerts and event organizers.
“After a careful review, and due to the main public security concerns, Parks Canada has notified the organizer that the permit has been revoked,” he said in a statement issued just after 11 pm.
Feucht did not respond to a request for comments from CBC News on Tuesday.
In a publication on his Facebook page, he published a screenshot of a CBC news article about his event with the title: “We can all witness if there are still freedom of expression and freedom of religion in Canada.”
Feucht has asked that government policy in the United States be based on traditional Christian values in the midst of a “spiritual war” in that country.
Its website calls young people to face the “progressive agenda that is forced to the United States.”
The concert at the York Redoubt site was to start a national tour, Feucht said it marks the “revival summer in the Nation of Canada.”
