A man was killed by an imprudently conducted bus of the People’s Bus Service in the Khokhrapar area of Karachi on Tuesday morning, police said, since traffic incidents related to heavy vehicles continued to rise through of the metropolis.
The rules that restrict the movement of heavy vehicles were recently implemented in the metropolis amid the growing traffic accidents that involve Dumpers and Petroleros, and protest the death of citizens.
Earlier this month, the provincial government prohibited the entry of heavy vehicles into the city during the day, only allowing them to operate from 11 pm to 6 am, however, exemptions were granted to trucks that transport water, oil products, medications , meat and other essential goods. The Sindh government also made it mandatory that all heavy vehicles in Karachi have a physical aptitude certificate in the increase in the number of traffic accidents involving Dumper trucks.
The Khokhrapar Police Station Officer (Sho) Allah Bachayo said Dawn.com That the victim, Abdul Razzaq, 42, was a bus cleaner. “When he got on a bus after cleaning it in Khokhrapar-2, the popular bus service (JB-4613) ran over the main road,” Bachayo said.
He said that the man suffered critical injuries and was transferred to the Jinnah postgraduate medical center where doctors declared him dead.
The sho said the wandering driver was arrested and the vehicle was confiscated.
In a separate incident, a teenage cyclist was killed while two other teenagers were injured in northern Karachi.
Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Sho Sarfraz Commando said the trio was riding a motorcycle when they hit a truck behind in the-5-C sector.
All suffered wounds and were transported to the Abasi Shaheed hospital, where doctors pronounced Wahaj, 18, dead while Hadi Atif, 17, and Aseed Naeem, 17, were admitted to receive treatment, said the sho .
He added that the family told the Police that they did not want any legal process.
