Nueva Delhi: the MLA of the National Conference provoked on Tuesday a controversy after comparing the living conditions between Jammu and Cashmiro and Pakistan occupied Kashmir and inferred that the infrastructure on the other side of the control line (POK) is better.
In his speech at the State Assembly, Mir said that the people of his constituency Trehgam were fed up with the administration.
“Trehgam is very large … Pakistan is on the other side. If we compare both of them, the people on the other side have all the facilities. We have no problem with that,” Mir said.
“We have no problem with that. On this side, people die in vain, roads are always closed. The people of Trehgam live in rehabilitation centers. They are fed by the administration. This is the condition in Trehgam,” he added.
After the protest of the opposition and an achadered exchange during the session, Mir justified his comments and said: “I have not said this. I said that the other side of the Keran sector is Pakistan and that the condition of the roads should be better here than is there.”
Meanwhile, Jammu and the Deputy Director Deputy Minister of Kashmir, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, also supported Mir and said he raised the issue of better roads and electricity facilities in his constituency and Prime Minister Omar Abdullah clarified the government’s position.
“Mir said that in our area, we lack electricity, roads and water. The prime minister clarified everything, and I do not think he needs to comment much about it. He agrees that the people of any city want development in their area, access to electricity and water, schools and roads. Who would not want to use their children?
CM Omar Abdullah said that Pok development is mainly driven by China, and the Pakistan government does not play an important role in its progress.
“We have to accept that while there is limited development in our border areas, on the other hand, there have been deliberate attempts to show progress,” said Abdullah.
“However, this so -called development was facilitated by China, no Pakistan,” he added.
