Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron said the band after almost 30 years.
Cameron, 62, announced his departure in a publication on social networks.
“After 27 fantastic years, I have taken my final steps for the drum for the powerful Jam Pearl,” Cameron said. “A lot of love and respect for Jeff, Ed, Mike and Stone for inviting me to the band in 1998 and for giving me the opportunity for a lifetime, full of friendships, art, challenges and laughs.”
Cameron did not give a reason for his departure.
“Matt Cameron has been a unique and true power of a musician and drummer. He has promoted the last 27 years of shows and studio recordings by Pearl Jam.
They did not mention a replacement.
Cameron, who touched the battery to Soundgarden for more than a decade before joining Pearl Jam, was not a founding member of the band and did not touch the battery for the first albums that made them rock superstars.
But it provided a very necessary stability in the battery kit after the band had gone through four others since its inception. He first joined in 1998 as a temporary replacement for Jack Irons, playing on a long tour before making his debut in the study with the group in “Binural” of 2000.
He has just finished a one -year tour with the band in support of his 12th studio album, “Dark Matter.”
Cameron was born and grew in San Diego before moving to Seattle shortly before his music scene became a global phenomenon. He played in the Proto-Grunge Skin Yard band before joining Soundgarden. He made double service with Pearl Jam and a Soundgarden gathered from 2010 to 2017.
