The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Sunday a general prohibition of future participation in the World Legends (WCL) championship, citing “hypocrisy and bias” in the context of Indian players that are awarded to the points despite voluntarily losing a match with the Pakistaní team.
Political tensions between the two nations over the years have thrown a shadow on bilateral sporting events, which causes large tournaments to remain in equilibrium. The countries of the countries have previously refused to travel across the border for sporting events, choosing to play in a neutral terrain through a hybrid model.
The Pakistani veterans team advanced in the WCL final on Wednesday after the Indian players lost the semifinal scheduled for Thursday.
PCB issued a statement on Sunday announcing the general prohibition after President Mohsin Naqvi “reviewed with a considerable disappointment of the true WCL conduct of the award points to a deliberately deliberately loss team, and the content of the WCL press releases announced the cancellation of the legends of India vs Pakistan.”
The WCL statement of July 30 said that although “he has always believed in the power of sport inspiring and achieving a positive change in the world (…) the public feeling must always be respected, after all, everything we do is for our audience.
“We respect the decision of the Indian champions to retire from the semifinals, and we also respect the preparation of the Pakistan champions to compete,” said the statement.
PCB continued in his statement, saying that the content of the WCL press release “highlights a duality in which the ‘peace through sport’ is selectively applied and sporting events are hostage to political convenience and narrow commercial interests.”
“The PCB has always advocated the separation of sports and policies.
“Our unwavering belief is that Cricket, like other international sports, should only serve as a platform for goodwill, healthy competition and mutual respect,” he said.
“For a tournament that involves legendary players who are dictated by feelings that undermine this fundamental principle is not only unfortunate but also deeply worrying for the future of independent sporting events,” the national ruling organ continued.
“The apology of the WCL for” harming the feelings “, although it is ridiculous, inadvertently recognizes that the cancellation was not based on the merit of Crick, but on succumbing to a specific nationalist narrative.
“This bias, disguised as sensitivity, sends an unacceptable message to the international sports community,” said the PCB statement.
“In the light of this unfortunate development, which underlines a clear and intolerable pattern of external influence and a contempt for the principles of sports neutrality, the Cricket board of Pakistan is forced to adopt a firm posture.
“The PCB can no longer tolerate participation in an event in which the fundamental principles of clean play and impartial administration are compromised by external pressures,” he said.
Cricket’s body added that he is still committed to promoting Cricket worldwide and promoting healthy sports rivalries.
“However, we cannot allow our players to be part of the events in which the spirit of the game is eclipsed by a biased policy that undermines the very essence of sportsmanship and gentleman’s game.”
The WCL is an International Cricket League where international and unpractical international players return to the T20 competitive Cricket, according to the League website. The tournament began on July 18 and was held in Birmingham, England.
