The diners in a restaurant in Windsor, Ontario, were stunned and euphoric during the weekend when an American couple collected the bill for the full establishment, citing the divisive rhetoric of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and his love By Canada.
May Hermiz is the co -owner of Toast in Erie Street. She says the day took an unexpected turn during her lunch career when Ann Arbor’s couple, Michigan, told her that they wanted to pay for everyone in the restaurant.
“I was a little stunned because nobody has done that in our nine years of being in business, nobody has paid for the entire restaurant,” Hermiz told CBC News.
The staff caught the restaurant’s attention and made the announcement, before the woman sitting at one of the rear tables of the restaurant outside to speak.
“Everyone were encouraging. They were encouraging and applauded.”

Hermiz said that the woman told customers: “He hates what the United States is doing to us and that he does not support him. And he is so happy that we have won the hockey game and that it is a little appreciation for Canadians and how much He loves us and how much he loves to support local. “
“Everyone encouraged them again,” Hermiz said.
Trump said Monday will advance with a 25 percent rate In most Canada imports next week, saying that the country has started the United States for too long and is time to stop it.
“This is an abuse that took place for many, many years,” Trump told White House journalists. “The tariffs will continue, yes, and we will invent a lot of territory,”
‘It was wonderful to experience it’
Irene Chyz was at the restaurant with a friend whose birthday celebrated. She says the restaurant was full at that time.
Chyz says that the gesture brought him a lot of happiness at a time when he has been disturbed by how Trump is talking about Canada.
“We were so retired. You’ve never heard of such a thing, and it was wonderful to experience it,” Chyz said.
“We noticed that people were starting to leave and go and thank them for what they had done, to come and support Canada and his love for Canada.”
“My friend and I went and thanked them, we gave them a big hug and they were so warm, lovely and charming,” Chyz added.
It was while they thanked the couple that Chyz and her friend discovered that their names were Sarah and Bill from Ann Arbor, one hour by Windsor’s car.
“That is a bit difficult to come. So it was really an experience, very, very exciting, incredible,” said Chyz.
“It was so high … it really was. I still feel that way, that someone in their generosity came to our country and did this for the people who did not even know at all. It’s really good, happy …”
‘It was very generous’
Tecumseh’s resident, Aileen Ganley-Mutter, was in the restaurant with her godchildren. She said they were finishing and waiting for the waitress to bring the invoice.
“We were all a little surprised because that does not happen, because there are about 50 to 60 people there,” Ganley-Mutter said, adding that there was “a full joy and applause.”
Ganley-Mutter said it went to the couple because I still felt it was necessary to give some money for the tip.
“They said ‘no, that’s the least we could do,” he said. “They said … they were not going to stop supporting Canada and love Canada, and they felt bad for the crack that was causing, so it was very generous.
Ganley-Mutter shared the experience in social networks as “good news” to counteract the abundant bad news that says she is used to seeing.
