Pakistani and Saudi naval bosses held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the regional maritime security and improve defense cooperation.
The two countries carried out a bilateral training drill that involves their special forces with a final high intensity test in Karachi in February. The bilateral training exercise was carried out among the Special Operations Forces (Sof) of the Naval Saudi Royal Forces (RSNF) and the Special Service Group of the Pakistan Navy (SSG-N).
A statement issued today by the general director of the Pakistan Navy (PN) said that the RSNF chief of the Vice Admiral of the General Staff of RSNF, Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Ghuraybi, met with the head of the Admiral of the Naval Personnel of Ashraf at the Naval headquarters in Islamabad, on Tuesday.
The Saudi Naval Chief was received by Admiral Ashraf and was presented with an honor guard. It was also presented to the main staff officers.
“During the meeting, both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, regional maritime security and ways for greater cooperation in defense, training and security. Dignitaries appreciated the successful behavior of PN-RSNF ex naseem al Bahr-XV held at the North Sea of Arabia this year.”
Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted the initiatives of the Pakistan Navy to guarantee maritime security and regional stability through the regional mechanism of maritime security patrols (RMSP).
The Saudi naval chief appreciated and recognized the contributions of the Pakistan Navy and the “unwavering commitment to collaborative maritime security efforts in the region,” the statement said.
He added that “he praised PN for the quality training taught to the RSNF cadets in Pakistan Naval Academy already board of PN, recognizing his deep impact on his professional development.”
The two naval bosses pledged to strengthen even more the scope of the bilateral defense relationship between countries.
The statement said that PN and RSNF enjoyed a “long data and fraternal relationship”, adding that the visit of the RSNF chief would further improve bilateral defense collaboration between the two countries.
