A Pakistani diplomat has requested concerted efforts to intercept clandestine flows of modern and sophisticated weapons that support non-sanctioned armed groups such as Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Baloch Liberation Army (Bla) and its Majeed brigade that said that Use Safe Havens in Afghanist Crusade Inside Pakists.
“The terrorist armed groups are in possession of billions of illicit weapons abandoned in Afghanistan,” said Syed Atif Raza, a councilor of the UN Mission to the UN, to a Arria-Formua meeting of the UN Security Council, convened by Sierra Leone.
This format of the council meeting is called a former Venezuelan ambassador to the UN, Diego Arriva. It is a consultation process that gives UNSC members the opportunity to listen to people in an informal environment.
Speaking in a debate about ‘Small Weapons Management and Light Weapons in UN sanctions regimes’, the Pakistani delegate said that TTP and Bla’s terrorists were using terrorists against violence against civilians and armed forces of Pakistan.
“These terrorist entities also receive external support and financing from our main adversary,” said the counselor race in an obvious reference to India.
“We call on our international partners who recover the vast reserve of abandoned weapons, avoid access to armed terrorist groups and take measures to close this prosperous black market of illicit weapons.”
The improper use and the illicit flow of small weapons and light weapons aggravate conflicts, threatens socio -economic progress and subverts peace and security, he said, pointing out that they have become instruments of choice for state and non -state actors.
He said that these concerns were aggravated even more with a growing sophistication of illicit weapons and access to modernized weapons available to illegal armed groups that often operate through national borders.
We know that non -state actors do not have many of the capacities to manufacture advanced illicit weapons, which raises guilt issues of certain state actors in these dire activities, “added the Pakistani delegate.
