The Pakistani veterans team advanced in the final of the World Legends Championship (WCL) on Wednesday after Indian players lost the semifinal scheduled for Thursday.
The WCL is an International Cricket League where international and unpractical international players return to the T20 competitive Cricket, according to the League website. The tournament began on July 18 and is celebrated in Birmingham, England.
At the beginning of the month, a group match between the two teams was also canceled after Indian players, including Shikhar Dhawan, refused to play against Pakistan.
In a statement published in X Today, WCL organizers announced: “Taking into account all the factors, the match between the champions of India and the Pakistan champions has been suspended. As a result, the Pakistan champions will advance to the final.”
The WCL said it respected the decision of India’s champions to retire from the semifinals and “we also respect the preparation of the Pakistan champions to compete.”
The league organizers added that they believed in the power of sport to inspire and achieve a positive change in the world; However, “the public feeling must always be respected; after all, all we do is for our audience.”
The owner of the Pakistan champions, Kamil Khan, said: “The WCL management has taken a tour of the WCL management, since its position was that whom the semifinal does not play, the opposition will be given a walk.”
The Edgbastton stadium management also said that the organizers of the WCL event had confirmed that tomorrow’s game (Thursday) between Pakistan and India was canceled.
The management said that the spectators would receive a 50 percent refund and that the second semifinal scheduled for later in the day would continue as planned.
In May, Pakistan and India went back to a total war after a four -day military confrontation, the worst in decades, after the attack of the pahalgama of April 22 in the Kashmir occupied by India. New Delhi blamed Pakistan for the attack without evidence, launching the Sindoor operation. Islamabad has strongly denied accusations.
During the conflict, the chief coach of India, Gautam Gambhir, had asked for a complete stop of Crick’s commitments with Pakistan in any forum.
Recent tensions also briefly emitted a shadow on this year’s Asia Cup, with speculation that India would retire from the Asia Cup. However, the two teams will face each other in the tournament in September of this year.
