A shameless thief stole more than $ 113,000 on Pokémon cards from a Massachusetts store, authorities said on Friday, throwing a real life pokémon looking for the suspect and rare collectibles.
The robbery in the first edition collectibles in Compreter Street in New Bedford, about 60 miles outside Boston, occurred just after 2:30 am on Tuesday, police said. The thief “entered and stole several collectible articles of high value,” said Police spokesman for New Bedford, Holly Hunoon, in a statement.
No arrests had been made from Friday morning.
“Apest. I mean, you work hard, and obviously, something like this is not good,” he told the store’s co -owner to NBC News. “But I mean, it’s just money. No one died. So, I mean, it’s due to the world.”
Store owners placed the loss at approximately $ 113,650.
The stolen Pokémon cards are so rare and valuable that local collectors could recognize them in the market, Vieira said.
The store had surveillance cameras, but the police have told the owners not to reveal many details of the robbery as the detectives continue their search.
Nine summers, the Pokémon Go Smartphone application was launched, sending fans of fictional Japanese characters to semi-virtual searches in its local streets.
Now, Pokémon collectors can help search these stolen cards similarly.
“It is definitely one of those things that I would say that is (stolen merchandise) quite easily identifiable safely,” Vieira said.
“The cards have serial numbers, and there are no equal boxes. Therefore, there are imperfections in the boxes that we could probably use to identify, you know, the exact. Again, they are not many of them,” he added.
