MUMBAI: An all-party delegation, led by former MP Sambhaji Raje, will meet Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Monday to express concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Marathwada’s Beed following the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh , and push for the dismissal of alimony and civil rights. said Supply Minister Dhananjay Munde and Opposition Leader Ambadas Danve.
Many lawmakers have alleged that the main accused in the case, Beed strongman Walmik Karad, is associated with Munde. Raje is pushing for Munde to be removed from the cabinet since the murder.
Local BJP legislator Suresh Dhas, who was outspoken on the issue during the winter session of the state legislature, backed this demand. He is expected to be part of the delegation that will meet with the governor. The call for removal also comes from Munde’s own party, MLA Prakash Solanke, as well as Jitendra Awhad and Sandeep Kshirsagar of the NCP (SP).
Mass protests have broken out across Marathwada demanding Munde’s resignation. Terming the demand for his resignation as politically motivated, the NCP minister said he is not even remotely associated with Karad.
After an uproar in both Houses of the legislature, Fadnavis entrusted the investigation to the CID and set up an SIT. He had assured both Houses that no one would be spared and stern action would be taken against all the culprits. All the main accused have been arrested.
NCP chief and MP Ajit Pawar distanced himself from the volatile situation: he has not reacted to the demand for Munde’s ouster and has not visited Beed since the murder.
