NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national coordinator Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday wrote a letter to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, raising questions over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) actions. Kejriwal sought clarification on whether the RSS supports certain practices of the BJP.
In his letter, Kejriwal asked, “Whatever bad the BJP has done in the past, does the RSS support it? BJP leaders are openly distributing money. Does the RSS support vote buying? Dalit votes and purvanchali are being cut on a large scale. Does the RSS think this is good for democracy? Does the RSS not believe that the BJP is weakening democracy?
Kejriwal also expressed concern over alleged manipulation of voter lists by BJP leaders. Dalit and Purvanchali votes (from the voter list) are being cut on a large scale. Does RSS think this is good for democracy? “Doesn’t the RSS believe that the BJP is weakening democracy?”
Earlier on Monday, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar accused BJP leader Vishal Bharadwaj of filing requests to remove names of voters in Shadara constituency, particularly targeting Purvanchali voters. Kakkar said, “When we raised our voice against it, he stopped it.”
He also alleged that BJP leader Parvesh Sharma distributed money for votes in the New Delhi constituency and submitted conflicting applications to the Election Commission (EC) for additions and deletions of voters. “A BJP leader filed an application in ECI seeking deletion of voters’ names. There was another app to add voter names. The BJP is nervous,” Kakkar said.
On Sunday, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP is “manipulating voter lists”. However, the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi clarified that all objections and complaints related to the draft electoral roll had been resolved by December 24 and the final roll would be released on January 6, 2025.
The allegations come as the AAP and the BJP prepare for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, with both parties accusing each other of voter-related irregularities.
