A man died while two others were injured on Sunday when a vehicle belonging to a local political leader was caught in an explosion in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lakki Marwat district, a police spokesman said.
Khanzala Quraishi, spokesman for the Bannu Regional Police officer, said Dawn.com That the president of Betani Qaumi Tehreek, Inamullah Khan, returned from a weekly protest in the Pul Ahmadzai area when his vehicle was beaten by an FDI planted in Tejori Road.
“Inamullah survived the attack,” Quraishi said. “However, the initial reports suggest that a man was killed in the incident.”
Quraishi said a police team had been sent to the site of the incident and that a detailed report would be presented.
A police report shared later by the Public Relations officer of the Lakki Marwat (Pro) police, Aamir Khan, declared that the incident took place at 8 pm on Sunday.
“Near Bukhmal Ahmadzai Checkpoint, an FDI exploded near the Inamullah vehicle, causing him to catch fire,” the report shared with Dawn.comread.
“Inamullah and the remaining leaders of the movement are safe, but two people were injured in the explosion, while a man was killed.”
The report added that the injured have been transferred to the DHQ Tajazai hospital to receive medical treatment.
Later, the professional reported that the district police officer (DPO) Nazir Khan arrived at the incident scene and that the police were collecting forensic evidence.
“An investigation has been launched and a search operation is being carried out,” added the professional.
In a video posted on Facebook, you can see Inamullah attracting the audience that leaves their homes and “involve the attackers”, while the shots can be heard in the background.
This incident occurs days after the murder of the senior leader of the National Awami Party, Maulana Khan Zeb, by suspects not identified in the Baja district of KP.
Bajaur District Police officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq said Dawn.com That the politician was shot dead in Shindai Mor while campaigning for the peace parade of July 13, and added that a policeman was also killed in the attack.
“Three other people were injured in the shooting,” said Dpo Rafiq. “This was an objective murder made by unidentified motorcycle shooters.”
The first information report was registered by the Department of Contractorism under sections 302 (murder), 324 (murder attempt) and 427 (mischief that cause damage to the amount of RS50) of the Pakistan Criminal Code and Section 7 (terrorism) of the Anti-terrorism Law, 1997.
