One dead, 33 injured after four coaches of a Karachi-bound train derail in Punjab’s Lodhran – Pakistan

At least one passenger died, while 33 were injured after four train coaches to Karachi were deranging and overturned last night at the Lodhran of Punjab, the rescue 1122 said Sunday.

According to a declaration of Rescue 1122, the Awami Express train was traveling from Lahore to Karachi when the incident occurred.

“Four train coaches suddenly deranged due to the brake failure near the Lodhran train station,” said the statement.

“The incident left a dead person while another 33 were injured, of which 11 received medical assistance at the site of the incident, and the rest were immediately transferred to the district hospital in Lodhran.”

In addition, he said that two seriously injured people were transferred to a hospital in Bahawalpur.

Expressing pain for the loss of lives, Railroad Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi promised to take disciplinary measures against those responsible for the incident.

He ordered an investigation into the incident and ordered the authorities to submit a report within seven days.

“Nobody can be allowed to play with human lives under any circumstance. We have begun reforms within the Railway Department, and people will benefit soon,” Abbasi said in a statement.

The minister addressed the railway authorities to complete the restoration of the road, since the trains scheduled to pass through the road were diverted.

The headquarters of the Pakistan Railroad has summoned an emergency meeting for tomorrow, chaired by the Railroad Minister. The minister said he will also visit the accident site.

The rest of the passengers were housed in an alternative train, according to the railway ministry.

The incident occurs days after two AWAM Express coaches, bound for Peshawar, were deranged near the Khanpur train station, near Rahim Yar Khan, leaving several injured passengers, while another Musa Pak Express, bound for fine, also left the road, asking questions about the safety of Pakistan railroads.

Earlier this month, at least 29 people were injured as a passenger train from Islamabad express derailed near Kala Shah Kaku in the Sheikhupura district of Punjab.

The incident also caused massive damage to the rolling stock and a large part of the track.
