A child drowned on Sunday while his two brothers were missing on the Swat River in the Butkhela area of the Malakand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the officials.
Malakand Commissioner Waheedullah Khan said Dawn.com that three brothers bathed in the river when the incident occurred.
“The body of a 12 -year -old girl was recovered from the river, while the search for her two brothers continues,” Waheedullah said.
Meanwhile, Nasir Khan, a district emergency officer for the 1122 Malakand rescue, said in a statement that the incident occurred near the Japan bridge in Butkhela, on the river.
“The three brothers drowned in the river and their ages were between 10 and 13 years old,” said Nasir. “The search for the remaining two bodies will continue and Civil Defense teams are also participating.
Rescue officer 1122 identified the recovered girl as Azra, 12, and her missing brothers as a 10 -year -old Bilal, and Muhammad Sadiq, 13.
“The search operation on the river has now stopped and will resume early tomorrow morning,” Nasir added.
On July 31, a girl was rescued by the locals, while two were still missing after falling into the Indo River in the Shangla district of KP, according to the police.
