Kelowna RCMP say one person has been arrested and remains in custody after a fire broke out in Knox Mountain Park on Friday.
Police blocked access to the park, located in a residential area near the city center, after smoke and flames were discovered on the mountainside.
Police and firefighters also helped hikers off the mountain.
High winds in the area were a concern, but crews managed to extinguish the flames at 4:45 p.m. PT while remaining on scene.
Knox Mountain Park is Kelowna’s largest nature park, the city says, covering 3.85 square kilometers just north of the city centre.
The city conducted a controlled burn in the area on October 16.
