Ohio police find raccoon holding meth pipe during traffic stop

After an Ohio woman was arrested during a traffic stop on Monday, an officer returned to the vehicle to find the driver’s seat occupied by a Mapache with a glass methamphetamine pipe in her mouth, police said.

“The Mapache has its methamphetamine pipe”, an officer is heard with a laugh about the images of the body chamber. “That is evidence now.”

When the officer took off his pipe, the Mapache took another one.

“While our officers are trained to wait for the unexpected, it is the first time that finding a mapache that supports a methamphetamine pipe!” The Springfield Township police department said in a social media post.

The Mapache, called “Chewy”, was unharmed. The officers confirmed that the driver had appropriate paperwork and documentation to own the Mapache in Ohio, where domestication is legal.

The incident led the officers to further inspect the vehicle, and found a large amount of methamphetamine, crack and three methamphetamine pipes used, according to the department.

The vehicle had been arrested after it was discovered that its registered owner had an active arrest warrant and a suspended driver’s license. Victoria Vidal, a 55 -year -old girl from Akron, was accused of three positions of possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for driving under suspension.

The department said that Vidal could face additional charges due to the possession of Crack cocaine waiting for the laboratory results of the Criminal Investigation Office. He was delivered to the police for his active order.

The officers, in a video fragment on the department’s Facebook page, said they placed the Mapache in a carrier and contacted Ohio’s Natural Resources Department to ensure that Chewy is relocated to a safer location.

“As always,” said the department, “we are still committed to maintaining our safe community, regardless of the surprises that occur to us.”
