If I was looking for signs of a spring at the beginning of spring, well, look elsewhere.
Most of the southern Canada is about to be beaten by a strong winter climate blow, almost like reminding us that there are still 36 days left in the season and we must steal, tremble and suffer through them.
Until Wednesday morning, the stripes of each province and territory in the country, except the territories of the Northwest, were under a warning, clock or climate statement, according to the meteorological alert map of Environment Canada. That is 857 weather alerts in total (but the day is young!).
The warnings were largely concentrated in the southern half of the provinces, painting the lower half of the red map from the outside of Lethbridge, Alta. – That you can wait for an extreme cold with winds of wind up to –40 C – Straight to the East to Fredericton, which can wait up to 25 centimeters of snowfall.
The BC sections were also under warnings, with parts of the northern coast and Whistler that were due to the Arctic exit (strong winds combined with the wind) on Wednesday and Thursday, and Elk Valley, Yoh Extreme cold, with wind cooling values near –35 C.
On the other side of the country, Labrador City, NL, is under an extreme cold warning, with the coldness of wind immersing up to –50 C during the night on Wednesday. Meanwhile, in the north, Iqaluit has a snow -storm warning, and also Demi, Yukon.
The entire southern half of Saskatchewan and Manitoba is due to an extreme cold, with Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg facing an “several days episode” of wind chills of –40 c or lower.
As for the south of Ontario and Quebec? Warnings are a true mixed winter misery bag, which includes extreme cold, ice rain, storms and snowfall, depending on where you live.
“It will be a messy trip,” said the Security Division of the Roads of the Provincial Police of Ontario in a video posted in X on Tuesday night.
“Please be careful. Stay in control. Reduce speed if you have to be there. Avoid non -essential trips.”
An attack of strong snowfall is expected to hit Toronto and much of southern Ontario on Wednesday. Clara Pasieka of CBC has more details about the storm, and how the city teams plan to deal with snow.
Heavy snow in parts of Ontario, Pearson cancels some flights
The strong snow is expected to hit much of the south of Ontario from Wednesday afternoon, including Toronto, which can wait about 15 centimeters, and Ottawa, which can be beaten with up to 40 centimeters.
In the GTA, the following areas are currently under the warning of Nevada: Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Mississauga, Brampton, Uxbridge, Durham Region, Pickering, Oshawa, Newmarket, Georgina, York Region, Oakville, Halton Hills, Milton and Hamilton.
A winter storm warning is in force for Barrie, Collingwood and Hillsdale for Wednesday night to Thursday. The total amounts of Nevada could reach up to 30 centimeters, said Enviedment Canada. At its maximum point, snowfall rates could exceed five centimeters per hour.

Several airlines have canceled flights in the anticipation of the storm, said Toronto Pearson International Airport in an X position on Wednesday morning.
In Ottawa, snowfall is expected to begin on Wednesday afternoon and affect Thursday morning, according to Environment Canada, which also recommends avoiding trips if possible.
The agency issued a winter storm warning for Ottawa-Gatineau at 4:45 pm on Tuesday, improving a winter storm surveillance issued above. A separate winter storm warning was issued for the west of Quebec.
The Meteorologist of Environment Canada, Trudy Kidd, said that this will be the largest winter storm that will hit Ottawa since 2022, when 47.8 centimeters of snow fell.

Almost all southern Quebec is under the warning warning warnings.
Montreal faces a winter storm warning, which is broadcast when several types of severe winter climate are forecast at the same time. The area could see up to 40 centimeters of snow from Wednesday to Thursday, in addition to moderate winds that “will generate local snow,” according to Environment Canada.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a warning for the regions of Montreal, Montérégie, Los Laurentianos, Lanaudière, Outaua and Mont-Laurier.
The Quebec city faces a similar winter storm warning, with a total accumulation of snowfall from 15 to 30 centimeters expected from Thursday morning until Friday morning.

Almost the entire province of New Brunswick is under a warning of snowfall, including Fredericton, which could see snowy of up to 25 centimeters starting Thursday morning, which could then be mixed with ice pellets. The rest of New Brunswick, including Saint John and Moncton, is under a special climate statement for the “significant winter climate.”
Environment Canada issued a special climate statement for most of Nueva Scotia, plus a winter storm surveillance for Inverness County, Richmond County, Sydney County and Cape Breton, and Victoria County. Halifax can expect “messy winter climate” on Thursday, with up to 10 centimeters of snow.
All PEI is under a special climatic statement that begins on Thursday, with up to 25 centimeters of snowfall planned in some areas. The same for almost all of Newfoundland, which is forecast to be beaten with snow, winds and blowing snow on Thursday until Friday.
