A load container and an improvised office for a whiskey manufacturer of centuries seniority slid on the Kentucky river on Monday following strong rains and floods, authorities said.
A “climate-related land sliding occurred on the northeast side of Buffalo Trace Distille” in Frankfort, Kentucky, early Monday, according to a statement from Victoria Zabel-Wirdak, spokesman for the company Sazerac Company, Inc.
The sliding sliding sent a “load container and a temporary office that fell to the” Kentucky River, said Zabel-Wirdak.
“No team member was close to the area at the time of sliding sliding and affected property has been properly curled up to guarantee the safety of distillery,” he added. “Buffalo Trace Distillery will work in close collaboration with professionals to guarantee proper cleaning.”
The production and tours of the distillery have not been arrested for the landslide, said Zabel-Wirdak.
Buffalo Trace Distillery, which produces a variety of whiskey brands, claims its roots to 1771 and has for more than two centuries has defended “the challenges of floods, fires, tornadoes and even prohibition,” the company said.
At least 22 people have died in the recent incidents related to the winter climate around the Commonwealth, said Governor Andy Beshear on Monday.
