‘Numerous’ Bahria Town properties sealed across country over cases against Malik Riaz, says NAB – Pakistan

The National Responsibility Office (NAB) said on Monday that it had sealed “numerous” commercial and residential properties of the Malik Riaz property tycoon throughout the country for corruption cases presented against it.

On January 21, the responsibility dog ​​warned the public not to invest in the new real estate project in the city of Bahria in Dubai, adding that the Government was arriving at the EAU to seek the extradition of Riaz through legal roads.

Later in the month, NAB began the process of extraditing Riaz and his son Ali Malik of the EAU.

Last month, NAB presented a reference against Riaz, former Sindh Prime Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Superior Minister Sharjeel Memon, and several senior government officials to convert, exchange and transfer government land to the city of Bahria.

On February 18, the account regulator presented two corruption references against Riaz, his son, former Punjab Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, and others on the alleged illegal occupation of government lands in Rakh Takht Pari and New Murree.

In a press release issued today, NAB said that “once again he informs the public that several cases of fraud and deception against Malik Riaz Ahmed, owner of Bahria Town, and others are currently under investigation.”

In addition, he said that he had also filed several references against Riaz and others in the courts of responsibility in Karachi and Islamabad, and the courts have called them all.

“In these cases, there are irrefutable accusations and evidence against Malik Riaz Ahmed and its associates for illegally occupying the government but also to private lands on behalf of the city of Bahria in Karachi, Takht Pari Rawalpindi and New Murree, establishing housing societies without permission, and disappointing people of one billion rupees.

“In recent actions related to this, numerous commercial and residential properties of the city of Bahria in Karachi, Lahore, Takht Pari, New Murree/Golf City and Islamabad have been sealed, including several -story commercial buildings,” said Nab.

In addition, hundreds of bank accounts and vehicles in the city of Bahria have been frozen, and added more actions in this regard, he added.

“NAB will continue its legal actions against Bahria Town Pakistan without any delay or pressure to completely protect the rights of Pakistan citizens,” said the anti -corruption regulator.

“Malik Riaz Ahmed, who currently resides in Dubai as a judicial deputy in the NCA [UK’s National Crime Agency] Case has recently launched a new luxury apartment construction project there, ”he said.

“NAB has Prima Facie evidence that certain people from Pakistan are criminally helping Malik Riaz Ahmed in this process by transferring his money to Dubai for investment in this project.

“Since NAB also has strong evidence of money laundering against Malik Riaz Ahmed and its associates, these funds have been sent to foreign countries through illegal means. Any funds transferred from Pakistan for this project will be considered money laundering, and legal measures will be taken against the elements involved without discrimination, ”reads the press release.

“The public is informed to avoid attractive incentives in the city of Bahria and protect their savings won with so much effort,” said Nab.

He added: “NAB, in collaboration with other government agencies, has initiated vigorous efforts to bring Pakistan to the fugitive to the fugitive for such individuals to be taken before justice.”
