The Wimbledon champion, Jannik Sinner, the 24 -time winner of the Grand Slam Novak Djokovic and Jack Draper title, No. 5, retired on Sunday from the National Bank Open in Toronto, citing injuries.
The 1000 Masters Tournament extends from July 26 to August 7 at the Sobeys Stadium.
The number 1 sinner blamed his right side, which hurt in a fall in the fourth round in the All England Club on his way to his first title there and the fourth important trophy.
He won his first Masters 1000 title in Toronto in 2023.
“Winning that title in Toronto two years ago was the beginning of a really special moment for me, but after talking to my team, I have to recover,” Sinner said.
Djokovic said that an injury in the groin was the reason he retired from an event that has won four times.
He lost to Sinner in the semifinals in Wimbledon.
Draper will miss Toronto and Cincinnati’s masters next month due to a problem with his left arm, which means he will not have any tuning tournament of the field lasts before US Open begins on August 24.
“After Wimbledon, I took an injury to my left arm, nothing serious, but I have to make sure it recovers completely for the rest of the season,” Draper published on social networks. “Unfortunately, I will not be able to compete in Toronto and Cincinnati … See you in New York!”
