The past spring, Aaron Rodgers took months to decide if he would play during the 2025 NFL season.
Then the season began on Sunday. And playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers immediately resembled the future field marshal of the Hall of Fame that had ever pushed holes in defenses throughout the League, and little like the one he had fought during the last season.
Facing the New York Jets, the same team that told Rodgers without ceremonies that their services no longer wanted last winter, the 41 -year -old field marshal, the oldest active player in the League, threw four touchdowns four different receivers at the beginning of the fourth quarter of the opening of the season.
That was only remarkable: I only had one game with four TouchDown passes all last season. But Rodgers was not over.
With the Steelers behind 32-31, Rodgers and Pittsburgh recovered the ball with 3:13 remaining in the last quarter, 81 yards in the annotation zone. Seven moves later, helped by two long rodgers’ ends and a pass interference extracted in another of their passes, the Steelers were put in position for a winning field goal of the game to win 34-32.
Rodgers completed 22 of his 30 passes for 244 yards, and although he was fired four times, he did not launch an interception. He connected with the other remarkable offensive firm of the team, DK Metcalf, four times for a maximum of 83 yards.
The game effectively presented an exchange of field marshal that none of the teams wanted after last season. Justin Fields, who started the first month in Pittsburgh last year before losing his job against Russell Wilson, also seemed revived while completing 16 of his 22 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown and running for two touchdowns, too.
Rodgers has suggested that this could be the last season of the NFL of his career, which includes a Super Bowl title and four MVP honors. His arm has been regularly one of the strongest in the League, but a decrease in performance in recent years, combined with a series of headlines outside the field derived from their personal positions, had left only a few teams interested in signing Rodgers during the low season.
Through additions that included adding Metcalf and Defensive Jalen Ramsey in the low season, Pittsburgh made movements to position himself as a contender in the AFC. The biggest variable was Rodgers. Through a game, he was his greatest asset.
