The law firm that represents a great attachment of Nishnawbe Aski (Nan) who faces an independent investigation says that Bobby Narcisse denies all the accusations against him, saying that they are nothing more than “a political attack.”
Judson Howie LLP, a law firm based in Fort Frances, Ontario, issued a Declaration on TuesdayA week later Narcisse confirmed with CBC News that he is the object of a third -party investigation related to Nan’s code of conduct.
Narcisse is one of the three great attached chiefs of the political-territorial organization, which represents 49 first nations in treaties 9 and 5 in Ontario.
In A letter addressed to the Nan Government Committee On Tuesday, Judson Howie LLP refers to the accusations against Narcisse that were made by Chief Jennifer Constant of Mattagami First Nation. The firm says that these accusations were addressed to the NAN Government Committee in a letter on April 4.
Specific accusations against Narcisse are not known immediately; Nan’s code of behavior is not available on its website.
“Our client denies that any of the accusations made against him has some merit or quantity to more than an orchestrated political attack to leave him aside and silence his sincere concern for the proper, responsible and transparent governance of Nan,” said Judson Howie Llp in the statement on Tuesday.
“This complaint seems to be in retaliation for the expressed concerns of the Great Narcisse Chief that the appropriate governance protocols do not follow and that the NAN Executive is taking measures without any mandate of the Nan bosses (which is normally formalized by the resolution of the assembly of a boss).”
“The great attached boss Narcisse has nothing to hide. He intends to cooperate completely with any properly constituted, fair and independent investigation,” added the declaration of the law firm.
CBC News contacted NAN to comment on the investigation, as well as the statement issued by Judson Howie LLP, and had not yet received an answer for publication time.
In his letter to the Nan Government Committee, Judson Howie LLP said that Narcisse “is happy to answer questions or provide information about any of the alleged incidents that have been described in the letter of April 4, if applicable, an independent supervision is provided in this process.”
“We understand that several of Nan’s bosses have already requested that the results of an appropriate investigation return to the assembly of a boss as soon as possible.”
CBC News has also communicated with Constant for clarity about the accusations raised and will update the story with any response.
