The National Regulatory Authority of Electric Power (NEPRA) on Thursday notified a negative fuel cost adjustment (FCA) of RS2.98 per unit for K-Electric consumers (KE) in June invoices for the energy consumed in March.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA Today, the authority “decided to allow a negative FCA of RS2.9898/KWh (negative RS4.045 billion) by March 2025 to transfer to consumers in the Billing Month of June 2025”.
Nepra said that the negative FCA would apply to “all consumer categories, except life line consumers, protected national consumers, electric vehicle load stations (EVC) and prepaid electricity consumers of all categories that opted for the prepaid rate.”
The adjustment would be shown separately in the invoices of consumers based on the units invoiced to consumers in the respective month to which the adjustment belongs, he said.
“In the event that any June 2025 bill is issued before notification of this decision, the same can be applied in the subsequent month,” said the notification.
He also said that KE will reflect the adjustment of fuel charges compared to March in the June billing month.
The notification said that the negative FCA of RS2.98/KWh was allowed on a “provisional basis subject to adjustment” once Nepra determined the rate of several years of KE for fiscal year 201024-30. “The difference in the cost, if there is, based on the MyT FY 2024-30 it would be allowed in future adjustments once the same is notified,” he added.
Separate, Neprol also notified an additional FCA of 0.93 per unit after an adjustment due to the variation in fuel charges for April at the approved rate of the Ex-Wapda distribution companies (disc).
According to a separate notification issued today, the authority “has reviewed and evaluated an increase in the national average uniform of RS0.9306/kWh in the applicable rate for discos due to variations in fuel charges for April.”
The notification said that the FCA should be applied to all consumer categories, except life line consumers, protected consumers, EVCs and prepaid electricity consumers of all categories that opted for prepaid rates.
“The discos will reflect the adjustment of fuel charges with respect to April 2025 in the June 2025 billing month,” the notification said, he added that it would be shown separately in the invoices of consumers based on units used in April.
“In the event that invoices of June 2025 are issued before notification of this decision, the same can be applied in the subsequent month,” he added.
