“We will have to ask ourselves this question that we have no responsibility as a society towards children who will form future society,” Murmu said. “We all know the family that the first teacher is the mother. And if a mother says goodbye to take care of her children and her education, her efforts are to improve society,” he said.
“Today, India is on the way to become the third largest economy in the world, rapidly increasing women’s participation in the workforce is very critical. That will happen, it is important to ensure that women obtain equal opportunities in education and jobs,” he added.
This year’s celebrations, Murmu said, mark the end of the 50 years of International Women’s Day and during this period, women have achieved unprecedented progress. She said her trip is part of this progress. He said that for being born in a simple family and a backward zone of Odisha, his journey to Rashtrapati Bhavan is the story of equal opportunities and social justice for women in Indian society.
