The National Cyber Crime Research Agency (NCCIA) has summoned YouTuber Rajab Butt on September 9 to join an investigation into its alleged promotion of online game applications, emerged on Friday.
Butt has one of the largest online followers in the country and has been involved in controversy for years, including its brief custody of a lion puppy.
A NCCIA notice on Thursday to YouTuber said that the accusation against him was “participation in financial scams through online commercial applications, motivating young people for investments in the application of online game of play, the use of social networks platforms of social networks, projecting online online investments not designed in an orchestrated scheme for the looting of innocent people.
He ordered him to appear in person before the deputy director of the Nccia, Shoaib Riaz, to register his version in his defense at the Lahore office in the NCCIA on Tuesday at 11 am for a fair trial process.
“In the case of non -appearance, it will be assumed that it has nothing to present or declare in its defense,” said the notice.
The lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq told him Dawn.com that he would represent Butt and a written answer would be presented on Tuesday.
“The Rajab Butt case is being reviewed from all aspects. The case of Rajab Butt will be completely defended according to the law,” said lawyer Ashfaq.
The development occurs after Youtuber Saadur Rehman, also known as Ducky Bhai, was arrested last month at Lahore airport after being reserved by the NCCIA for allegedly promoting requests for games and online bets.
The case was registered by the NCCIA LAHORE on August 17 around midnight under sections 13 (electronic counterfeit), 14 (electronic fraud), 25 (spamming) and 26 (impersonation) of the Law on the Prevention of Electronic Crimes, 2016, as well as sections 294 B (which offers prize in relation to trade) and 420 (trap and induction of the delivery of properties) from the Pakistan prison.
