The speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, approved on Sunday the parliamentary calendar for the next federal budget session, with its presentation scheduled for June 10 and a parliamentary session that discusses it scheduled for June 13, according to a statement from the secretariat of NA.
As announced by Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad, the federal budget for fiscal year 2025-26 will be presented on June 10, while Pakistan’s economic survey will be published one day before.
According to today’s statement, Sadiq approved the NA schedule for the budget, which will be presented in the lower house on June 10.
“There will be no sessions at the National Assembly on June 11 and 12,” said Sadiq.
“The discussion about the federal budget will begin in the National Assembly on June 13 [and] The parliamentary parts present … will receive time for discussion according to the rules and regulations, ”he added.
According to the statement, the debates about the federal budget will continue until June 21, when it is finished.
“There will be no meeting of the National Assembly on June 22. The necessary expenses for 2025-26 will be presented and debated at the National Assembly on June 23,” the statement added.
Sadiq was summoned by saying that on June 24 and 25, there will be debates and will vote on deductions and subsidies, while the Finance Law 2025-26 will end on June 26.
“On June 27, there will be a debate and vote on other issues, including complementary subsidies,” said the speaker, and the statement added that changes could be made at the schedule with his permission.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that the government’s priority in the next budget is to provide relief to the common man, in addition to “job creation, agriculture, information technology, small and medium enterprises and the housing sector.”
Meanwhile, the Minister of Planning, Ahsan Iqbal, said the Government would have a Billion Development Budget and hinted at an increase in defense expense.
