The National Responsibility Office (NAB) has issued a freezing order of 15 days on properties throughout the country, including the property of the Malik Riaz Property and its company, Bahria Town PVT LTD, in a reference against the influential magnate and others, it emerged on Saturday
The development adds to the previous actions of NAB against Riaz, who is also an absorbing in the case of the qadir trust of £ 190 million.
According to the order, dated June 19 and seen by Dawn.com – 457 real estate properties belonging to several individuals and entities have been frozen under section 12 (power to freeze property), read with section 34a (delegation of powers) of the Ordinance of National Responsibility (NAO), 1999.
Referring to an investigation against the “accused people”, the order said: “It arose that the people accused in connivance active with each other have usurped the land of the government that administered 16,896 acres located in the Malir district, Karachi”, stating that they violated section 9a (the offense of corruption and corrupt practice) of the NAO.
According to the order, five properties owned by Bahria Town in Dha Rawalpindi; two properties owned by Ahmed Ali Riaz in Islamabad; And 18 properties owned by the city of Bahria in Islamabad have frozen, which makes a total of 25.
Two properties owned by the son -in -law of Riaz, Zain Malik, were also listed.
The order will remain in force for 15 days, although “it will continue to subsist until the Court of Responsibility judges the same as in the hands of the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan in its reported sentence as SCMR 1106 2019,” said the document.
Earlier this month, a Court of Responsibility on the Non -Financial Orders issued by the arrest of the controversial magnate of the Malik Riaz Property Magnate, his son and others in the case of monitoring land of Bahria Town Karachi (BTK).
NAB had presented a reference a few months ago against the owners of the city of Bahria, the senior leaders of the PPP and government officials to allegedly convert, exchange and transfer government land to the city of Bahria for its BTK project.
