Musk gives away two $1 million checks to Wisconsin voters in high profile judicial race – World

Billionaire Elon Musk delivered two million dollars to two voters in Wisconsin on Sunday and promised smaller payments to others that help choose a conservative candidate for the superior court of the State in an election of closely observed.

The CEO of Tesla, a main advisor to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, delivered large checks in a rally in Green Bay while sought to increase the enthusiasm for an election of the Supreme Court of the State that is already the most expensive judicial career in the history of the United States.

Musk said he would also pay the followers $ 20 for each voter to recruit in the next two days.

He said he was spending the money to raise awareness about a career in which the liberal Susan Crawford seems to be running ahead of the conservative Brad Schimel.

“We are actually a serious danger of losing the elections,” he said. “We have to get a rabbit out of a hat.”

The April 1 contest will determine the ideological inclination of the State Superior Court, since it considers the rights of abortion, labor rights and possibly electoral rules.

Technically non -partisan, the race is considered an early referendum about Trump in a politically competitive state.

Musk warned that the court could re -draw legislative districts in a way that can make Trump’s Republicans lose seats in the United States representatives.

“I think this will be important for the future of civilization. It’s so significant,” Musk said.

Since last week, groups affiliated with Musk had spent at least $ 17.5 million to support Schimel, according to the Brennan Center for Justice of the University of New York, more than a fifth of the $ 81 million spent in total in the race.

The $ 1m raffle of Musk echoed its tactics of the presidential elections of 2024, when he gave checks to the voters who signed requests that support conservative causes.

Wisconsin attorney general, Democrat Josh Kaul, sued to block the raffle, but the Supreme Court of the State ruled that he could continue, according to the Washington Post.
