Four people died and another five were injured when an improvised explosive device (FDI) together with a motorcycle shot in a market in the Khuzdar district of Baluchistan, according to the police.
NaAL Police Station House Officer (SHO) BAHAWAL KHAN PINDRANI confirmed the victims to Dawn.comTo say that the condition of one of the injured was serious. The health officer of the Rafiq Sasoli district also confirmed the same.
The sho said the explosive was attached to a motorcycle and detonated remotely after the bicycle parked next to a car.
He said that the pump elimination squad was present on the spot and inspecting the site.
However, a statement from the Edhi Foundation of the Rescue Service put the highest number of deaths in five with several injured in the explosion in the Naal Bazaar in Khuzdar. He added that the victims were transferred to the hospital to receive treatment.
Khuzdar Police Superintendent Javed Zehri said Dawn.com The explosion occurred near a university near the market and burned vehicles as well. He said the injured were taken to the Khuzdar Teaching Hospital to receive treatment.
Baluchistan’s prime minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, firmly condemned the explosion in a statement, added that orders were issued to provide the injured with the best available medical care.
“Terrorism will be eradicated in all its forms,” said CM Bugti. “The hostile peace elements will fail in their disastrous goals and those involved in this incident will be taken before justice.”
Baluchistan’s government spokesman Shahid Rind, also condemned the explosion and “lamented the loss of human life.”
“Terrorist elements cannot demoralize people,” said Rind. “Cowardly acts are a conspiracy to sabotage law and order.”
The incident occurs immediately after an attack against Bannu’s cliff in the homonymous district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, when the terrorists had rammed two vehicles loaded with explosives in the perimeter in an attempt to enter the high security zone on Tuesday night.
