Mother of seven children killed by husband over ‘honour’ in Karachi’s Lyari: police – Pakistan

According to the police, a mother of seven children was shot dead by her husband in a case of murder of ‘honor’ in the Chakiwara area of Lyari, according to the police.

“Bakhtawar, 40, was shot dead by her husband in Miranaka [in Chakiwara, Lyari]”Said the Chakiwara station station (Sho) Sajid Dharejo Dawn.com.

“The husband was arrested and the gun used in the murder was recovered,” he added.

The police officer said the woman was asleep inside her house near Koyla Godam, Street-7, around 1:30 am, when the suspect shot four shots. She suffered three gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

“The murder seems to be the result of the ‘honor’ slaughter,” Dharejo continued.

During the initial investigation, the arrested man told police that his wife used to talk to a man on his cell phone.

He had noticed that he did not, but she did not pay attention to her warning, said the husband.

The sho said the husband is a worker and came from Mansehra. The victim’s body was transferred to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Karachi hospital for legal formalities.

In Pakistan, ‘honor’ murders continued to claim women’s lives throughout the past year, perpetuated by deeply rooted social beliefs about family dignity and shame.

Pakistan Human Rights Commission data show that in 2024, ‘honor’ murders continued to be a serious problem in all Pakistan, with particularly high figures in Sindh and Punjab. From January to November, a total of 346 people were victims of “honoring” crimes in the country.

Last month, two men were shot dead while a third was injured by ‘honor’ in the Karachi mangopir area, police said.

Also last month, a man was killed by the so -called honor in Sharifabad, according to the police.
