Mostly small items, mementos among gifts received by public office-holders – Pakistan

Islamabad: In addition to the rich sheikhs of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which Pakistan’s dignitaries lavished, including visiting bureaucrats, with expensive gifts, mainly bracelet watches, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a traditional golden dagger during the first six months of 2025.

The Toshakhana Registry, made public by the Division of the Cabinet for the period between January and June 2025, lists high -value articles, such as watches, luxury vehicles, carpets, crafts and traditional artifacts presented to the senior state officials, including the president, the prime minister, the ministers and the senior officials during foreign visits and local commitments.

The data, which comprise 137 entries, record gifts received from the heads of state, real families, diplomats and commercial delegations. However, the value of these gifts is still being evaluated by the Cabinet division.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a total of 61 gifts, mostly decorative and traditional articles. These included several high -end bracelet watches. In particular, on the first day of 2025, two luxury bracelet watches, an IWC Schaffhause and a panerai, were presented with a guarantee cards, by Sheikh Abdul Hadi Mana Al-Hajri de Qatar.

The Shah of the state of Seangor, Malaysia, gave a gift from Shehbaz as ‘Kris Dorado’, a traditional dagger from Malaysia. In addition, Turkiye’s president presented an electric car.

During his visit to Azerbaijan, the prime minister received a handmade silk carpet and other articles. The president of Tayikistan gave him a box containing a cup of golden tea with a spoon.

While in Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Shehbaz received a Mimbar-E-Rasool model from Prince Mansour Bin Muhammad Bin Saad Bin Abdulrahman to the Saud, and a wooden box that contains two documents: Makkah’s letter in English and Arabic, of Dr Mohammad Abdulkareem al -isa, general secretary of the Muslim World League.

From Iran, the prime minister was presented with a hanging wall and a shield by the Chief of the General Staff. Other gifts included handmade carpets, ónice decorations, paintings, tea games, books and shields.

Interestingly, although the Saudi hosts did not overwhelm the prime minister with luxurious gifts, several Pakistani officials who visited the kingdom, led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, received high -end bracelet watches.

On January 28, Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia, gave six Rolex watches, five Tudor watches, three black watches and nine Frank Rosha watches to Pakistani officials, mainly government officials.

The registration shows that President Asif Ali Zardari received 11 gifts, including a demand for ladies and a sheet of the Bangladesh High Commissioner. The most valuable among his gifts was an electric vehicle of Turkiye’s president. He also received a carpet from the Iranian Foreign Minister, as well as vases, candle stalls, shields, a coffee game and ónice items.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, received several Afghan carpets and traditional bowls, while Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz was presented with Turkish mats and crafts.

Other ministers, advisors and security officials were gifted watches, carpets, wall problems and porcelain items.
