The writer of Montreal, Christopher Diraddo, says he is disappointed after a municipal library told him that he is not allowed to celebrate his monthly reading club there because he would violate the new Language Law of Quebec.
The Violet Hour Reading Club explores the 2SLGBTQ+literature, and although the members read a mixture of books in French and English, discussions are carried out in English, said Diraddo when they arrive at the Père-Ambroise Public Library in the Montreal village.
“Instead of creating bridges, what I hope to do with my reading club, I felt they were putting barriers on the road.”
