Police say they have found the mother of a newborn child at a door in London, Ontario, earlier this week.
“We would like to thank the public for his compassion and commitment in this situation. Fortunately, everyone is safe,” Det said. Insp. Let Travis.
The baby was found in the front of a house in Sterling Street in the northeast of the center on Wednesday.
They left him wrapped in a flannel blanket and with an attached note that urged who found the child to take care of him.
The baby was taken to the hospital and is healthy. The police were worried about the mother’s health and asked the public to help her. The Children’s Assistance Society (CAS) is involved in the case.
“As the investigation progresses, we will be limited to what information can be provided to respect the privacy of all involved,” Travis said.
There are several reasons why a father can deliver to his baby or feel that they cannot take care of them, said Cas, including economic and social challenges.
“Sometimes people do not have many supports connected to them, so they can feel isolated and alone and are not sure how to navigate their pregnancy,” said Carrie Thomas, service director of the London and Middlesex Children’s Help Society (CASLM).
While he cannot comment on the details of this case, Thomas said that when a baby receives his care, connecting with the family is a priority.
“We have the obligation to work in reunification with a father,”
