The chief coach of the White Ball of Pakistan, Mike Hesson, ruled out the concerns about the batting of the national squad on Thursday before the next clash of Asia Clup with India.
The archirrival will collide in a male Asia Cup contest loaded with geopolitically in Dubai on Sunday. It will be the first Cricket match between the sides from four days of military conflict among neighbors with nuclear weapons in May.
While the reigning of T20 World Champions India are the firm favorites to retain its title, Pakistan is at the top, since it has defeated Afghanistan in the final of a Tri-Serie series, which also involves the United Arab Emirates hosts, on Sunday. Pakistan plays against Oman tomorrow.
Questioned during a press conference prior to the game in Dubai about the performance and the batting trial of the team, Hesson said that “he was not very sure” where the concerns arose, saying that the team had played against the “best turn of the wrist” in the world in the world and won for more than 70 races against Afghanistan in the final of the Tri-Series series.
“It is a developing batting alignment. There are many players who can win the game in their day, but they don’t have as many good days as you want at this time … what is for us is that we are more interested in the sum of the parts as a batting group.”
HESSON said that as a batting unit, “we have done the job.”
The coach said that what mattered for a team for fifty or 190 races was “what is required to win the game and we can overcome that, that is the only thing that matters, it is not the average attack rate.”
HESSON said it was exciting to be part of the “highly loaded” event, and added that, ultimately, it was about keeping everyone focused on the task in question. “That will not be different the weekend,” he said.
He said that India was “enormously and legitimately” in terms of his performance, adding that Pakistan was “very focused on improving as a day to day and not being too ahead of ourselves.”
The coach also said: “We are very aware of them, I would not say the enormity of the task [of beating India]I would say that the challenge of the task ahead and we are certainly looking forward to it. ”
He said that the team for tomorrow’s game had not yet been finished, adding that Dubai’s launch was very different from Sharjah with respect to the abrasiveness of the grass. “I think that within our squad we have the balance to deal with him, we have many multiple grades players that give us a little flexibility,” added the coach.
HESSON said he did not expect the launch to provide turn as Sharjah did. “The beauty on our side is that we have five spinners,” he said, saying that Mohammad Nawaz was the “best spins bowling player” in the world and also pointed out the actions of Ahmed Ahmed, Sufyan Moqim, Salman Ali Agha and Saim Ayub.
“We have many rotating bowling options if we believe that the conditions adapt to that. If we do not, we also have five sailors,” he added.
