A former California resident won hundreds of thousands of dollars selling memories of false celebrities, including the forged firms of the Kardashians and President Donald Trump, federal authorities said Monday.
Anthony J. Tremayne, 58, who used to live in the suburb of West Covina de Los Angeles, but now resides in Rosarito, Mexico, declared himself guilty of a fraud charge by mail, according to federal prosecutors in southern California.
Tremayne sold the false merchandise between 2010 and 2019, receiving “more than $ 250,000 and up to $ 550,000,” prosecutors said.
“Tremayne was in the business of selling memories containing allegedly genuine athletes, musicians, actors and other famous celebrities,” prosecutors said. “Tremayne announced the memories with allegedly genuine firms.”
Tremayne’s defense lawyer could not be contacted immediately to comment on Tuesday.
Tremayne supposedly complained that her business did not justify the attention of federal authorities.
When FBI agents took part in the false material on December 23, 2014, Tremayne said: “Why me? This is not a big problem. It seems that the FBI would have better things to do,” according to an accusation of Grand Jury of 2019 against the old Californian.
Among the articles that Tremayne sold to an undercover FBI agent was a “‘stay with the photograph of the Kardashians who had forged signatures of three of the personality of the program,” said the accusation.
Other articles that Tremayne listed for sale includes “a photograph of the current president” in December 2019, according to the accusation. At that time at the end of 2019, Donald Trump would have been at the end of his third year in office.
It is scheduled for Tremayne to be sentenced on August 11 when he will face a maximum sentence of 20 years after bars.
