A pregnant man and his wife were killed in an accident when a water oil tanker hit them on the main road of Sharea Faisal de Karachi on Monday, according to the police and hospital officials.
The inspector general of the Karachi Police (DIG) Pir Mohammed Shah said Dawn.com That the water oil tanker was on the way from the Model neighborhood to Sharea Faisal but did not take a left turn.
He said that the cemented barriers were recently erected in the saliva, but the driver raped them when the vehicle’s brakes failed and reached the other side of Sharea Faisal, where he hit the bicycle family.
“As a result, the couple and their newborn baby were killed,” said the traffic excavation. He said that the traffic police officers present at the scene caught the wandering driver and confiscated the oil company, giving them the police to investigate.
Korangi’s police superintendent, Mohammed Tariq Nawaz, confirmed that the pregnant woman at term gave birth to a baby after the tragic accident, but the newborn could not survive. He said that, according to the reports, the husband took his wife for a medical check -up to a hospital when the accident occurred.
Police surgeon Dr. Sumaiya Syed said Dawn.com That Jinnah postgraduate medical center (JPMC) received the couple’s bodies and their newborn baby.
Dr. Sumaiya said that the mother was wrong in the accident, but that there was not a single mark of injuries in her baby’s body. The deceased were identified as Abdul Qayum, 25, and Zainab, 19.
Meanwhile, the police surgeon said that another man identified as Asif, 32, was killed when a heavy vehicle hit him and killed him in Quaidabad with his body brought to JPMC by legal formalities.
There was an alarming increase in traffic accidents in Karachi, since almost 500 people died, while 4879 were injured in 2024 due to a series of reasons ranging from reckless driving to construction activities, according to hospital data.
The rules that restrict the movement of heavy vehicles were recently implemented in the metropolis amid the growing traffic accidents that involve Dumpers and Petroleros and protests over the death of citizens.
Last month, the provincial government prohibited the entry of heavy vehicles into the city during the day, only allowing them to operate from 11 pm to 6 am
The Sindh government has also made it mandatory that all heavy vehicles in Karachi have a physical conditioning certificate amid the growing number of traffic accidents that involve Dumper trucks.
Rights activists and civil society members have said that the growing number of fatal traffic accidents in the city and the poor state of the application of the traffic law are human rights violations, that the State has not been able to safeguard.
