A man fell to several feet from the stands to the ground below in a local Pittsburgh Pirates game in PNC Park on Wednesday, the team confirmed.
The man was seen falling into the air before landing in the warning area of the right field during the seventh inning, which makes the game stop when the players seemed visibly shocked.
“Pittsburgh EMS, as well as the Atlético de los Pirates and puppies and other PNC Park training teams reacted and responded immediately and administered attention,” the team said in a statement.
The man was transported to the Allegheny General Hospital.
A person who witnessed the incident said it happened quickly, and that the man fell from the 21 -foot wall.
“It was fast, I couldn’t say if it jumped or fell,” said Sam Miller. EMS’s staff tied the man to a stretcher to immobilize him, Miller said.
A Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesman said they were collecting information about the incident and that updates would be published on social networks.
“There is no more information available at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” the team said.
