A 19 -year -old man was arrested Wednesday after a Soldier of the Connecticut State Police observed him driving at a speed later confirmed that there were 132 mph.
The soldier saw a Mercedes-Benz E300 traveling at excessive speed in the South I-91 near Cromwell and tried to start a traffic stop with lights and sirens. The driver accelerated, making insecure lane changes and entering and leaving traffic, according to the soldier’s report.
Due to the danger created, the soldier stopped the search.
The State Police contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, who said that a family member had it.
The soldiers obtained a telephone number for the man, who admitted that he had been driving and said he did not stop because he was late for a job interview.
He then agreed to meet with soldiers in the HT Troop office in Hartford, where he was arrested.
It faces nine positions: reckless driving; disobey the signal of an officer; Do not keep the lane; passing right; Incorrect turn; going to an insecure distance; Involve the police in a persecution; interfering with an officer; and reckless danger in the first degree.
It was released with a bail of $ 2,500 and is scheduled to appear in the Superior Court of Middletown on June 17.
