A man who passed through a hostess in four different airlines scammed 120 free flights in the course of years, the United States prosecutor for the southern district of Florida announced on Tuesday.
Tiron Alexander, 35, was sentenced on June 5 for entering a safe area of an airport under false claims and fraud to the cable. Federal prosecutors said that between 2018 and 2024, Alexander reserved free flights only available for pilots and flight attendees on the website of an aircraft carrier. The application process required that applicants provide their employer, rent date and number of badges.
Alexander flew 34 times with that airline, claiming to be a hostess, falsifying the employment with seven airlines and presenting around 30 numbers of different badges, prosecutors said in the press release. The transport security administration investigated the case.
“The evidence in the trial also showed that Alexander passed through a hostess in three other airlines,” prosecutors said. “Ultimately, Alexander booked more than 120 free flights by falsely affirming being a hostess.”
Alexander’s accusation as of October declared that he had worked for an airline based in Dallas since November 2015, but was never a pilot or hostess. Public defenders representing Alexander did not immediately respond to a request for comments from NBC News.
According to the accusation, the maximum wire fraud and entering the safe areas of the airport under false claims is 20 years and 10 years in prison, respectively. Both positions have a maximum of 3 years of supervised launch and a fine of $ 250,000.
Alexander’s judgment is scheduled for August 25.
