The laureate Nobel Malala Yousafzai visited his hometown, Barkana in the Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the first time since the Taliban shot him in 2012.
Malala was shot in the face by the Pakistani Taliban when she was a 15 -year -old schoolgirl, in the midst of her campaign for women’s education rights. His activism earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, and since then he has become a World Defender of Educational Rights of Women and Girls.
His most recent visit to Pakistan was in January when he spoke at a summit in Islamabad about the education of girls in Muslim nations and emphasized that women living under the Taliban system were in a “gender apartheid.”
Malala, which belongs to Shangla, has been living in the United Kingdom since October 2012.
The laureate Nobel met the family members in Barkana on Wednesday and visited their ancestral cemetery. He also met with his uncle, Ramazan, who recently underwent surgery in Islamabad after suffering heart problems.
The Karora Station Station officer (SHO) Amjad Alam Khan said Dawn.com That he arrived in Barkana through the helicopter and was accompanied by his father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, and her husband, Aser Malik, with whom she married in 2021.
Sho Khan said that Malala also visited the school and the university she had established in Barkana in 2018 to provide free education to approximately thousand girls in the district, which did not previously had a university of functional government girls.
“Malala met with students, inspected classes and spoke with the students while urged to study and make their future more bright,” said the sho, adding that the Malala fund would guarantee a high level of education at the university free of charge to promote education.
Malala also visited her maternal family, Faiz Ahmad, and met family members.
Also present on the occasion the educational activist Shahzad Roy, who directs the school and the University of Shangla Girls with Zindagi Trust. He informed him about the facilities provided by the University.
He returned to Islamabad after his brief visit.
