Karachi police arrested a main suspect along with its two employees for charges of beating a citizen in the city’s defense housing authority.
The development occurred after a video of the incident went viral on social networks today, which led the authorities to realize it.
The man, identified as Salman Farooqi, was arrested from DHA and his vehicle was confiscated, said the deputy inspector of Karachi South (DIG) Syed Asad Raza in a statement.
The man, who was traveling in a luxury car, supposedly subjected a bicycle rider, who was accompanied by a woman, to torture on the Khayaban-iittehad road after a lower accident.
Today early, the police arrested the driver and the suspect’s guard during the night raids in his home and office in DHA. Dig Raza clarified that the suspect was not a government employee.
By stating that the citizen who undergone violence had not approached the police to present a complaint, the excavation said the police were trying to contact his family.
“The police are taking this problem extremely serious,” said the Chief of the South Police, added that there has been a first information report (FIR) against the suspect and an investigation has been launched.
Dig Raza said that no one was above the law and promised to promise “full justice” to the aggrieved citizen.
“The suspects involved in torture would be taken to justice and all the requirements of justice would be fulfilled. The law is the same for everyone, and there is no exception,” he said.
Meanwhile, both Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar and Karachi, IG Javed Alam Ode ordered the South Senior Police Superintendent to present a detailed report on the incident.
They also ordered him to take measures against the culprits, since no one was above the law.
According to the reports, in another incident of anger on the road in Lahore, the armed guards of a private security company fired a car rider in underground Dharam, they hit him and fled the scene, leaving a vehicle and some weapons in the place.
