Prayagraj: Within the ancient mortuary of Mln Medical College in Prayagraj, a 62 -year Sadhu from Juna Akhara remained still among the lifeless remains of Maha Kumbh Stampede. Thirty lives were lost on January 29, and among them, perhaps their companion Binda Ram.
Raj Kumar Giri emerged moments later, his unfinished search. He moved to the new morgue at SRN hospital. If I was not alive, at least in death, I would find it. “I visit both mortuaries every day,” Giri said on Saturday, holding a photo of RAM. The missing seer had traveled to Kumbh in a group of seven devotees from Nepal. Everyone except he has safely returned to his country.
Through Prayagraj, families wandered around hospitals, police stations and lost centers. They sought a closure, a miracle, who had lost for the tide of humanity.
Parul Sarkar, 55, had come from Rudrapur de Uttarakhand with a group of 50. He separated during the stampede. Since then, there has been no trace of it. “We have sought in all police station, hospital and even morgue, but there is no information about it. The authorities are not providing any update,” said Laxmi Bairagi.
The pain of the missing remained deeply personal. Ganpati Kumar de Samastipur had spent three days looking for his sister Ukha Devi, 40. Nathuram de Jhansi wandered around the city looking for his wife Saraswati, 55.
Families have resorted to all resources at their disposal. POSTERS WITH NAMES, HAZARDED SCHABORED TELEPHONE NUMBERS AND FINAL DETAILS VIED MOSTS IN THE WALLS. Some promised rewards, as if the pain could be negotiated.
