The “Love Island USA” contestant, Yulissa Escobar, has broken her silence about her sudden exit from the show.
After being abandoned from the series of quotes of reality in episode 2, Escobar took Instagram on Friday to address speculation about his departure and apologize.
Escobar’s departure was linked to a violent reaction that he was receiving for using racist language in previous podcasts. The controversial clips resurfaced on social networks after Escobar was announced as a member of the cast of season 7.
In his Instagram publication, Escobar said he wanted to “apologize for using a word that had no right to use.”
“Podcast clips have recently resurfaced, and I want to address it directly,” he wrote. “In those clips, I used a word that I should never have used, a racial insult. I used it ignorantly, I did not completely understand the weight, history or pain behind it. I was not trying to be offensive or harmful, but now I recognize that the intention does not excuse the impact.
Escobar explained that he used racial insult when he was “speaking casually in conversation” and did not think “deeply or critically about what he was saying.”
“But that doesn’t take away how bad I was. The truth is that I didn’t know it better then, but now I do it,” he said. “I took the time to reflect, learn and grow from that moment.”
Escobar continued to say that he has “changed a lot” since he has made those podcasts. He pointed out that it appears for others differently and also speaks differently.
“Growth means recognizing when you were wrong, even if it is uncomfortable and choosing to advance with humility and responsibility,” he said.
Then, the 27 -year -old ended her statement saying that she takes “total property of my actions” and apologized again with anyone who was “disappointed or offended” by her words.
Online, he shared his statement along with a personal appointment of herself, which said: “possess my mistakes that speak my truth.”
Escobar was presented as a member of the cast of Season 7 of “Love Island USA” in May.
In a video teaser that Peacock shared on YouTube, Escobar said he was excited to be in the program after his previous “nine -year relationship” ended up in heartbreak.
“I want my man to nourish me,” he said.
In the first episode of the series, Escobar joined Ace Green. While they explored their love connection, the Iain Stirling series narrator informed the spectators that Escobar would no longer be in the program in an announcement he made in the second episode.
“Welcome again to ‘Love Island USA’,” he said. “Yulissa has left the town.” However, it is not clear when Escobar left Fiji, where the program was filmed, and if he was edited out of episodes.
