Jammu: Indian and Pakistani armies held a Brigadier level flag meeting on Friday along the loc in J & K’s Poonch, promising to avoid infractions of a 2021 Fire High Agreement.
The conversations followed several cases of Pakistani shot, followed by Indian reprisals, in the last two weeks. Two Indian soldiers were injured in these skirmishes. The last meeting of this type was held almost five years ago.
“The meeting was held in a pleasant atmosphere and lasted about 75 minutes. Both parties agreed to honor the Fire’s high agreement in the highest interests of peace at the borders, ”said an official source about conversations in the Ponch pocket of Chakkan-Bagh.
High fire violations along the borders of J & K have been rare since the two countries renewed their agreement on February 25, 2021. “The recent cross -border dismissal in the Ponch sector was reprisposed by the Indian army with reports of strong damage on the side of Pakistan. ” The source said.
The most important infractions of the truce occurred in shooting from the other side of LOC on February 10 and 14 in the districts of Poonch and Rajouri, which caused the two injuries between the Indian troops.
The last meeting of this type was also held in Poonch on March 26, 2021, just over a month after the Fire High Pact. This meeting had arrived after a series of statements from India and Pakistan highlighting the importance of maintaining peace in the region. The commanders had also discussed the mechanisms to implement the high fire agreement.
