Liverpool’s eaves, Mohamed Salah, has ended months of speculation on his future by signing a two -year contract in Anfield, the Premier League leaders said on Friday.
The 32 -year -old, who joined the club in 2017 of AS Roma, could have left the club for free in the summer with his contract previously expire in June.
“I am very excited. We have a great team now. We also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have the opportunity to win other trophies and enjoy my football,” Salah said in a club statement.
“It’s great, I had my best years here. I played [for] Eight years, hopefully, will be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. “
He tributes club fans and promised to continue working hard to bring them results. “Keep supporting us and we will give it better, and hopefully in the future we will win more trophies.”
Salah is the third tallest Liverpool scorer of all time with 243 goals in 394 games. In his eight years at the club, Liverpool has won a Premier League title, most likely about to become two titles, as well as a crown of the Champions League, a FA Cup, two glasses of the League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
He has been an outstanding artist from Liverpool this season, scoring 32 goals in all competitions and leads the race for the Golden Boot of the Premier League with 27 goals.
Liverpool is 11 points of the arsenal in second place with seven games to play.
‘History will continue’
“My family also feels at home, we enjoy every moment of this city and every moment of the club,” Salah said.
“It is a special moment always when we play in Anfield. There is no place like that. The warmth you feel inside the song before the game. Every time they score a goal and sing my song, it is something special, and the story will continue.”
The British media reported Wednesday that Liverpool had made a breakthrough in negotiations on a new agreement for the Egypt international after months of the dead.
It was reported that Salah was the object of interest of the Great Saudi Professional League, but it is widely seen as a key to Liverpool’s hopes to gain covered in a constant way given its own consistency over the years.
Liverpool’s manager Arne Slot said he had known for a while that Salah would be extending his agreement, but understands the relief that Liverpool fans have felt after the announcement.
“For fans, it was a pleasant surprise. But I knew for a little more that things were heading in the right direction,” he told reporters at a press conference before the game at the home of Sunday’s premier league against West Ham United.
“Happy, of course. It has been demonstrated in this club for so many years in a row how much value it is for the club and the team. Like all our fans and their teammates, we are very happy to have extended for two more years.
“And hopefully, you can show on Sunday again how important it has been for us throughout the season.” The captain of Liverpool, Virgil Van Dijk, who is not a contract at the end of the season, is also being proposed to extend his stay in Merseyside, while the full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked to a movement towards Real Madrid.
