The Kremlin said Thursday that kyiv would be involved in the Peace Conversations to finish the three -year Ukraine War “in one way or another”, one day after the president of the United States, Trump celebrated separate calls with the leaders of Russia and Ukraine.
Moscow also said there was no agreement on the moment or location for a face -to -face meeting between Trump and President Vladimir Putin, which suggests that it could be “several months” away.
“One way or another, of course, Ukraine will participate in the negotiations,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in an interview about Russian state television.
He said there would be a “Russian-American bilateral track” and another song that would be “connected to the participation of Ukraine.” He did not say if this would imply direct conversations between Russian and Ukrainian officials.
Previously, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that Ukraine would not accept any bilateral agreement on his destiny reached by Moscow and Washington without kyiv’s participation, asking Europe to have a seat on the table in the negotiations to end the war.
The Ukrainian leader made the comments on a nuclear plant on his way to the Munich Security Conference, one day after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, spoke with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and announced the start of negotiations .
“We, as an independent country, simply cannot accept any agreement without us,” Zelensky told journalists.
The call and comments of Putin of Trump’s secretary of defense, who said that kyiv cannot join NATO or that a return to the borders prior to 2014 of Ukraine is not realistic, it has caused alarm in Europe that the White House I could seek to reach an agreement with Russia without them.
“Today it is important that everything does not agree with Putin’s plan, in which he wants to do everything to make his bilateral negotiations [with the US]”Zelensky said.
He added that it was important for the United States and Ukraine to elaborate a plan to end the war before speaking with the Russian side.
He has been pressing to meet Trump before Trump meets Putin, although the president of the United States said Wednesday that he hoped to meet with Putin in the future, probably in Saudi Arabia.
Ukraine has said that he is working at a Zelensky-trump meeting, but so far nothing firm has been announced.
Zelensky also said he did not discuss the issue of NATO membership during his phone call with Trump, although he said he knew that the United States was against the idea.
He also tried to tear down the importance of Trump calling Putin before him on Wednesday, saying that he did not seem like a marker of Washington’s real priorities, but added that, however, it was “unpleasant.”
As the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion is approaching, Moscow controls a fifth of Ukraine and has been slowly advancing in the east for months, while kyiv’s smallest army fights with a shortage of labor and tries to have a piece of territory in western Russia.
