NEW DELHI: Rajiv Ranjan Singh, union minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party (Lalan Singh) launched a harsh attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, comparing him with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and accused him of being “steeped in corruption”.
Singh also criticized Lalu Yadav for his past rule in Bihar and dismissed his recent comments as petty.
Singh said, “Arvind Kejriwal is another form of Lalu Yadav. It is steeped in corruption… The people of Delhi have now understood this. His affection for the people of Purvanchal is suddenly increasing, but after the elections, he says people from Bihar and UP come to Delhi with Rs. 500 ticket to receive a treatment of Rs 5 lakhs. Is Delhi your property? Delhi is the capital of the country and everyone has the right to it. This time the people of Delhi will give him an answer.”
The minister also dismissed Lalu Yadav’s recent statements, calling him “a jeev-jantu (creature)” known for making light of serious issues. “Lalu Prasad Yadav apne aap mein ek jeev-jantu hain. It doesn’t make sense what I would do or say. Keep saying what you want. He has a habit of making fun of serious issues for the nation,” Singh said, adding that Yadav’s tenure as Bihar chief minister from 1990 to 2005 left the state in disarray.
“It brought Bihar to the brink of collapse… Husband and wife ruled Bihar from 1990 to 2005. There was nothing in Bihar: there were no roads, no electricity, no law and order, and people were suffering. Since 2005, Nitish Kumar has created a new Bihar in 20 years,” Singh said.
